Head Waiter

Job description

Bahrain Surf Park is hiring a Head Waiter to lead the restaurant floor team during service shifts so guests enjoy a smooth, welcoming dining experience. You will oversee waiters and runners, manage station allocations, keep table presentation immaculate, guide menu upselling and act as the main floor presence between guests, the bar and the kitchen pass.

Responsibilities

• Direct and supervise waiting staff and runners during shift operations, ensuring prompt and polite table service.
• Assign service sections to waiters and runners before service, balancing the workload.
• Monitor order flow from the POS to the kitchen pass and bar so dishes and drinks reach tables promptly.
• Welcome guests, look after VIP tables and make sure guest needs are met.
• Handle guest inquiries and complaints on the floor with empathy, escalating when needed.
• Keep dining room lighting, music, temperature, table setup and cleanliness at standard.
• Run pre-shift briefings on daily specials, out-of-stock items, allergens and beverage pairings.
• Coach waiters on menu description and upselling to raise the average check.
• Make sure side stations are fully stocked before service and enforce hygiene and uniform standards.

Requirements

• High school diploma or hospitality certificate (preferred).
• Food handler / food safety certification.
• Fluent English speaker; Arabic fluency is a strong advantage.
• 2-3 years of food service experience in high-volume restaurants, resorts or beach club venues, with at least 1 year as a senior waiter or shift lead.
• Experience leading floor service, managing order pacing and operating POS terminals.
• Excellent floor leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of food service etiquette, beverage presentation and menu upselling.
• Flexibility to work shifts, weekends and holidays.
