icddr,b is recruiting a Physician for Matlab Hospital under Clinical and Diagnostic Services (Adv#145/2026). Matlab Hospital, established by icddr,b in 1963, is a regional diarrhoea treatment centre serving more than 50,000 patients a year, and also provides maternal and child health services for women of reproductive age and children under five in the icddr,b service area. It is an important platform for clinical research and runs diarrhoeal disease surveillance to monitor antimicrobial resistance in rural settings.

The physician reports to the Head of Matlab Hospital and is responsible for standard clinical care as well as clinical research. This is an 11-month short-term contract with a possibility of extension subject to funds and performance. Applicants should mention their MBBS percentage of marks/CGPA in the application. Only short-listed candidates will be invited for a written test/interview, and icddr,b does not charge any fee at any stage of recruitment.

দায়িত্ব

• Manage patients with diarrhoea and associated illnesses, including history, examination, essential lab investigations, treatment and follow-up
• Deliver antenatal care, conduct deliveries, and provide newborn care and Kangaroo Mother Care in the MCH unit
• Ensure adherence to standard clinical guidelines and protocols
• Manage emergencies and complicated cases in rural settings
• Counsel patients and families on treatment adherence and disease prevention
• Document and maintain patient records in the hospital's electronic database, SHEBA
• Build knowledge and skills in epidemiology and biostatistics
• Develop research proposals, analyse data, review literature and write manuscripts
• Participate in morning sessions, Community of Practice and the Executive Director's seminar
• Work with Dhaka Hospital on complicated cases, referrals and joint research

যোগ্যতা

• MBBS from a reputed institution with strong academic performance and valid BMDC registration
• Preference for candidates with an MPH and research experience or training in Paediatrics/Obstetrics & Gynaecology
• Minimum 1 year of clinical experience in a large reputed hospital
• Interest in a public health career and willingness to stay in Matlab for a longer duration
• Strong interpersonal skills and excellent English communication and writing skills
