HSSE Officer

Job description

Wood is hiring an HSSE Officer for its office in Qatar on a short assignment of 2 months. The candidate will manage the project HSE interface requirements, ensure compliance with existing interface documents and help develop future plans.

The officer makes sure the requirements in the HSE interface documents and plans reach all relevant personnel, and supports HSE incident investigations and the related reporting. The office covers brownfield and greenfield work, so experience in onshore oil and gas is sought.

Responsibilities

• Develop annual HSE improvement plans in line with Company and Client strategic and business unit objectives
• Manage the project HSE interface requirements, ensuring compliance with existing interface documents and the development of future plans
• Ensure the requirements stipulated in HSE interface documents and plans are communicated to all relevant personnel
• Support HSE incident investigations and carry out the appropriate reporting
• Assist in coordinating internal and external audits
• Communicate the key messages from incidents and accidents to all relevant parties as part of the lessons-learned process
• Report deficiencies within project and corporate functions and record reportable issues in the company action tracking and incident reporting systems
• Ensure emergency response arrangements are in place and communicated to all personnel, aligned with Client requirements where these take precedence
• Liaise and build relationships with Client HSE representatives and site safety representatives
• Manage attendance and participation at project HSE meetings, workshops and forums
• Maintain a system for monitoring HSE performance
• Develop a site HSE visit programme for self, project/contract management and corporate HSE management
• Promote workforce involvement in all HSE activities, initiatives and programmes

Requirements

• C&G, ONC/HNC or equivalent in a technical, HSE or related discipline
• NEBOSH Certificate
• NVQ Level 4 IOSH (desirable)
• 2-5 years in a technical role, or in an HSE role in another industry
• Familiarity with industry regulations
• Good planning and organisational skills
• Effective MS Office Suite user
• High level of written and spoken communication skills
