Commissioning Specialist

Job description

GE Vernova is hiring a Commissioning Specialist in Riyadh to carry out the testing and validation of equipment, facilities and plants against design objectives before operational use. The role covers site mobilisation and commissioning of substation automation systems (SAS) on customer sites, and the related management activities.

You will work within a well-defined operations framework, resolving issues using established procedures, collaborating with colleagues and building strong relationships with customers and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Carry out testing and validation of equipment, facilities or plants in accordance with design objectives and specifications
• Perform SAS commissioning on the customer site, from site mobilisation through commissioning work, plus related management activities
• Work with SAS systems using PC, DSAgile and Aview software
• Handle communication with protection and control systems and integration of third-party IEDs
• Debug system problems and narrow down root causes
• Build strong relationships with customers and stakeholders, including National Grid standards and qualifications, project and operations teams, contractors and system integrators
• Demonstrate EHS leadership and implement the Zero Deviation Plan within the team
• Comply with quality procedures, work instructions and compliance rules, resolving non-conformances in a timely manner

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Power or Instrumentation and Control Engineering or a related field
• Minimum 1 year of experience in DCS/SAS systems
• Ability to debug system problems and find root causes
• Good knowledge of IEC 61850, Modbus, IEC 101, IEC 104 and IEC 103 protocols
• Ability to provide optimum technical solutions balancing quality, cost and delivery
• Experience with SAS systems and communication with protection and control systems
• NG CSD approval for SAS activities
• Fluency in Arabic is an advantage
