Facade Engineer - Design

Job description

AECOM is seeking a detail-oriented Facade Engineer for its Riyadh team. The engineer designs, develops and optimises building facade systems that meet aesthetic and performance requirements, working with architects, structural engineers and project teams to deliver solutions that comply with local and international standards and suit the region's climate.

The role suits an experienced facade designer, ideally from commercial or high-rise projects, with strong curtain wall, cladding and building envelope knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop façade systems including curtain walls, cladding, and glazing solutions using advanced CAD and BIM software
• Conduct detailed technical analysis of façade performance, including thermal, acoustic, and structural considerations
• Prepare comprehensive technical drawings, specifications, and documentation for construction and manufacturing
• Evaluate and select appropriate materials and systems based on project requirements, climate conditions, and sustainability objectives
• Ensure all designs comply with Saudi Arabian building codes, regulations, and international standards
• Collaborate with architects and structural engineers to integrate façade systems with building design and structural elements
• Analyze building envelope performance and recommend solutions for energy efficiency and moisture management
• Prepare detailed cost estimates and material specifications for façade systems
• Participate in design reviews, presentations, and client meetings to communicate technical solutions
• Troubleshoot design challenges and develop innovative solutions to complex façade engineering problems
• Maintain organized project documentation and ensure quality control throughout the design process

Requirements

• Proven 10 Years of experience in façade design and engineering, preferably in commercial or high-rise building projects
• Advanced proficiency with CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit) and BIM modeling tools
• Strong knowledge of building envelope systems, curtain walls, and cladding technologies
• Comprehensive understanding of building codes, standards, and regulations applicable to façade systems
• Expertise in thermal and moisture management, acoustic performance, and structural integration
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail
• Ability to prepare technical drawings, specifications, and construction documentation
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Excellent communication and presentation skills in English
• Proficiency in project coordination and cross-functional team collaboration
• Preferred: Experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM) and parametric design tools
• Preferred: Knowledge of sustainability principles and energy-efficient façade design
• Preferred: Familiarity with local building regulations and climate considerations in the Middle East region
• Preferred: Experience with project management and client communication
