Staff Full Stack Software Engineer

Job description

Scale's International Public Sector team uses AI to address critical challenges facing public sector organizations around the world, from creating custom AI applications to generating training data for custom LLMs and providing upskilling and advisory services.

As a Staff Full Stack Software Engineer (Forward Deployed) in Doha you work directly with public sector counterparts to build full-stack AI applications quickly, acting as lead technical strategist, setting the architecture for production systems that join interactive UIs, backend services and AI models, and turning field lessons into reusable patterns for the wider engineering team. Scale supports successful candidates with the Qatar visa and permit process.

Responsibilities

• Serve as lead technical strategist for public sector engagements, turning ambiguous mission requirements into architectural roadmaps and guiding onsite implementation
• Architect the frameworks for production-grade AI applications, integrating interactive UIs, backend systems and AI models at scale
• Guide the evolution of cloud infrastructure for security, global scalability and long-term system integrity
• Direct development of core platforms and shared services that solve cross-cutting needs across client use cases
• Partner with cross-functional leadership to steer the technical roadmap and mentor senior and junior staff
• Turn real-world client lessons into reusable patterns for the core platform and engineering team

Requirements

• Master's or PhD in Computer Science, or equivalent deep industry experience architecting complex distributed systems
• 10+ years of full-stack expertise across Python, Node.js and React, with a record of designing high-scale architectures on Kubernetes and cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure or GCP)
• Ability to design and oversee production-grade systems with high standards for integrity, security and scalability
• Experience deploying and troubleshooting end-to-end solutions inside complex, high-security client environments
• Record of building LLM-driven solutions
• Self-driven leader who can resolve extreme ambiguity and mentor senior staff
• Nice to have: experience as a CTO, founding engineer or forward deployed engineer
• Nice to have: experience working cross-functionally with operations
• Nice to have: proficiency in Arabic
