Senior Engineer

Job description

Galfar Engineering & Contracting is recruiting a Senior Engineer (Structures) for its infrastructure projects in Muscat. The engineer plans and oversees site execution of structural works, prepares method statements, and coordinates with the client, consultant, QC and quantity surveying teams.

The role suits a civil or mechanical engineer with hands-on experience of reinforced concrete structures including bridges, culverts, retaining walls and protection works.

Responsibilities

• Provide input for the preparation of shop drawings to the draftsman and liaise with the engineer for the approval process
• Prepare method statements for the works to be executed in line with the QA/QC procedures
• Plan the works, coordinate with the planning team to align with the project schedule and estimate the material and resource requirement for execution at site
• Arrange the material and other resources for execution of works as planned and oversee site execution in coordination with the supervisors
• Liaise with the client/consultant and address technical queries and issues
• Coordinate with the QC inspector to fulfil the inspection and test requirements and ensure inspection and test records are generated
• Coordinate with the quantity surveyor in providing the quantities of work to be carried out
• Prepare markup and as-built drawings in coordination with the supervisors and the draughtsman
• Assist the storekeeper in receiving inspection of all project materials delivered directly to site

Requirements

• Bachelor degree in Civil / Mechanical Engineering
• 6-8 years of experience in structural excavation, backfilling, scaffolding, shuttering, reinforcement fixing and concreting of reinforced concrete structures including bridges, culverts, retaining walls and protection works
