Project Manager, GIS Projects

Job description

Hitachi Energy is hiring a Project Manager in Dammam to lead the execution of medium-size to large, moderately complex gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) projects. The manager makes sure project activities follow company policy, contract terms, quality standards, health, safety and environment requirements, financial targets and schedule commitments, and sets the execution approach from handover through delivery.

The role is the single point of contact and escalation for customers on project issues, and works with engineering, commercial, logistics and service teams from contract review to project closure.

Responsibilities

• Execute projects according to contract scope, schedule and contractual conditions
• Review contracts received from sales and understand the terms, margin risks and performance risks
• Plan, monitor and control project scope, time and cost, including handover and execution planning
• Develop and agree project schedules with internal and external stakeholders and maintain the master document list
• Run process activities in SAP and keep documentation in line with ISO and internal requirements
• Coordinate with engineering and the customer for timely approval of drawings and documents and for resolving project queries
• Act as the single point of contact and escalation for customers on project issues
• Improve customer satisfaction through consistent interaction and build trust with customers
• Prepare and submit project progress reports to customers as the contract requires
• Monitor and document customer change requests and obtain approvals for time extensions and additional cost
• Identify project risks early and implement mitigation and risk and opportunity management plans
• Coordinate Factory Acceptance Tests, dispatch, invoicing, installation, testing and commissioning, payment collection, as-built drawings, PAC and FAC and project closure
• Report status and progress to internal stakeholders and management
• Comply with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures and guidelines

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in electrical engineering preferred
• 7 to 12 years of experience executing GIS, substation or similar high-voltage design, supply and installation projects
• Experience with Saudi Arabia and Middle East customers is preferred
• Strong leadership skills and the ability to convince stakeholders in the interest of the project
• Ability to work under pressure and deliver projects on time, cost and quality
• SAP or other ERP knowledge
• Proficiency in spoken and written English
