Head of Alumni Programming

Job description

The University of Cambridge (Development and Alumni Relations) is seeking an experienced leader for a six-month, full-time secondment (job ref DH51391) at £63,606 to £67,468 to head the team that develops and delivers its global alumni engagement programme, which serves more than 340,000 alumni. The secondment may be extended if permanent recruitment takes longer than expected, subject to approvals; appointment to the permanent post requires a separate process. The post reports to the Director of Alumni Engagement and sits on the Extended Leadership Team. The University welcomes candidates from higher education, membership organisations, charities and commercial settings.

Responsibilities

• Manage and motivate the Alumni Programming team, setting objectives, supporting development and managing performance
• Lead the team to deliver a portfolio of alumni events and content across multiple channels
• Use audience insights and data analysis to improve programming that encourages advocacy, volunteering and philanthropy
• Manage budgets, priorities and resources, and coordinate across University teams
• Represent Alumni Engagement at meetings and events, with occasional UK and international travel

Requirements

• Experience as a people manager who can give clear direction and deliver results from the start
• Experience leading alumni, membership or comparable audience engagement programmes
• Strong strategic planning, communications and operational management skills
• Ability to manage complex projects, work with senior stakeholders and use data to inform decisions
• Ability to build lasting relationships and balance competing priorities
