Category Manager

Job description

Al Ghurair is looking for a Category Manager in Dubai to procure materials and services through a strategic approach, choosing the right vendor for each requirement while ensuring quality control and adherence to company policies and procedures.

The role is responsible and accountable for managing the purchasing team and process, sourcing, negotiation, supplier identification, new project mobilisation, delivery and supplier management.

Responsibilities

• Perform spend analysis and plan long-term agreement and tender categories based on priority and need
• Identify and pre-qualify new suppliers, prepare tender documents, evaluate bids technically and commercially, and run e-auctions
• Prepare supplier contract agreements
• Supervise the purchasing team and ensure timely purchasing in line with company policies
• Verify and approve purchase orders and transport indents in the portal
• Source quotations and negotiate prices, payment terms and delivery terms with suppliers
• Plan material and service delivery for new projects and track spend against budget
• Monitor supplier and subcontractor performance on cost, quality, competency and consistency
• Prepare reports on PO spend, open POs, pending indents and savings for management
• Liaise with internal and external auditors on contracts and the procurement process
• Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders
• Carry out market research to find new suppliers and products and reduce costs

Requirements

• Bachelor of Engineering
• 8 years of experience in soft services procurement
• Knowledge of sourcing and procurement techniques and market intelligence on sources and trends
• Experience collecting and analysing data; highly organised and detail-oriented
• Skills in strategic sourcing, category management, negotiation and price analysis
• Experience with a procurement ERP system and vendor portal
