Job Description: Quality Control (QC) Officer (Footwear)

Position Summary

The QC Officer ensures that products, processes, and storage and delivery operations meet defined quality standards, safety requirements, and customer specifications. The role covers inspection of inbound and outbound orders, monitoring of storage conditions, compliance with health and safety regulations, and continuous improvement of quality performance.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Inspection and Order Control

- Inspect inbound goods, in-process items, and outbound orders against quality specifications and order requirements.

- Verify order accuracy and processing, and report discrepancies, damages, or non-conformances.

- Ensure quality objectives and delivery deadlines are consistently met.

- Investigate quality failures, carry out root-cause analysis, and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).

Storage, Equipment, and Systems

- Monitor specialized storage conditions, such as refrigeration and temperature-controlled areas, and maintain the related records.

- Check that machinery and handling equipment (forklifts, pickers, etc.) are in safe working order, and report maintenance needs.

- Use mechanical and IT systems (WMS/ERP/inventory software) for quality tracking, traceability, and reporting.

Stock Control and Records

- Support stock control by conducting audits, cycle counts, and shelf-life or expiry checks.

- Maintain accurate statistical, quality, and financial records, including inspection logs, rejection reports, and cost-of-quality data.

- Prepare regular quality performance reports with trends and recommendations.

- Assist in monitoring the quality control budget and controlling losses from damage, wastage, or returns.

Health, Safety, and Compliance

- Maintain health and safety records and ensure compliance with applicable legislation, company policies, and industry standards.

- Investigate accidents and incidents, troubleshoot problems, and recommend preventive measures.

- Support internal and external audits and ensure documentation is audit-ready.

Coordination and Stakeholder Liaison

- Liaise with transport companies, suppliers, and clients on quality requirements, complaints, and resolutions.

- Coordinate with operations on delivery routes and schedules so goods are delivered in good condition and on time.

Team Development

- Train, supervise, and appraise QC and warehouse staff on quality standards, SOPs, and safe working practices.

- Promote a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications and Experience

- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, Engineering, Science, or a related field.

- Footwear based QC exprience required

- 2-4 years of experience in quality control at Footwear based.

- Knowledge of quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, HACCP, GMP) is preferred.

- Familiarity with health and safety regulations and incident investigation.

Skills and Competencies

- Strong attention to detail and analytical, problem-solving skills

- Proficiency in MS Office and inventory/ERP/WMS systems

- Good record keeping, data analysis, and reporting skills

- Leadership, training, and team supervision abilities

- Effective communication and negotiation skills with suppliers, transporters, and clients

- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

- Basic understanding of budgeting and cost control
