HSSE Senior Associate (Environmental Management)

UNOPS is hiring an HSSE Senior Associate (Environmental Management) in Dhaka on a 12-month ICA (LICA 7) contract. The role sits in the Integrated Medical Waste Program for the Advanced Community Transformation (IMPACT) project, which strengthens medical waste management in six climate-vulnerable government hospitals, in close collaboration with the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), funded by TAKEDA Pharmaceuticals. The HSSE Senior Associate coordinates and manages integrated HSSE processes to support compliant project implementation: applying UNOPS requirements and procedures, monitoring compliance, maintaining the quality of outputs and supporting continuous improvement, while working closely with project teams, contractors and other stakeholders. দায়িত্ব

• Coordinate the preparation and timely submission of all HSSE documentation in line with UNOPS requirements and procedures
• Coordinate the review and updating of HSSE management plans so they stay current and aligned with project needs
• Monitor compliance with UNOPS HSSE requirements across all project phases
• Coordinate risk assessments and follow up on preventive and corrective measures for identified HSSE risks and hazards
• Coordinate GESI risk and opportunity assessments to identify barriers to participation and inclusion
• Monitor measures to minimize hazards and environmental impacts and promote adherence to regulations and standards
• Monitor contractor compliance with approved HSSE plans and coordinate follow-up actions and recommendations
• Coordinate regular and ad hoc field inspections and monitoring visits to project sites, documenting findings and non-conformities
• Coordinate the preparation and follow-up of incident reports and investigations, tracking agreed corrective actions to closure
• Compile and review monthly HSSE reports and relevant indicators, and contribute to GESI monitoring reports
• Maintain monitoring and reporting records related to GBV risk mitigation and refer and escalate sensitive matters appropriately
• Coordinate HSSE awareness and capacity-building activities for personnel, contractors and stakeholders, including PSEAH and GBV sensitization
• Coordinate regular HSSE meetings with contractors and the UNOPS project team, documenting agreed actions and monitoring follow-up
• Support accessible, inclusive and responsive consultation and grievance mechanisms
• Recommend practical improvements to the coordination and integration of GESI and HSSE processes to the Project Manager
• Carry out other tasks assigned by the project manager to ensure successful project delivery

যোগ্যতা

• Secondary school (or equivalent) with 7 years of relevant experience, OR a Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Public Health, Engineering, Risk Management, Gender, Social Inclusion, Human Rights, International Relations or another relevant field with 3 years of relevant experience
• Experience in Health, Safety, Social and Environmental (HSSE) management of projects
• Proven experience in conducting health and safety risk assessments, inspections, incident investigations and facilitating related training sessions
• Experience with computers and software packages (Google Workspace / Office) and web-based systems
• Fluent English (required)
• Fluent Bengali (required)
• Desired: Master's degree in a relevant field (may substitute some of the required years of experience)
• Desired: experience in multicultural environments or UN system organizations in a developing country
• Desired: experience in development or humanitarian contexts
