Technical Officer - Manufacturing Team

Job description

The role supports the Science and Engineering Manufacturing Team, providing hands-on technical expertise in labs and workshops for students, staff, and research. Permanent, full time, Grade 6. Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for teaching, research, and knowledge exchange
• Work mainly within the Manufacturing Team and collaborate with other technical areas
• Support engineering projects, from design and development through to practical student training
• Help maintain a safe, efficient, and innovative working environment

Requirements

• A degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related subject, and/or equivalent relevant work experience
• Broad skills across multiple engineering disciplines, including laser/waterjet cutting and 3D printing
• A strong understanding of CAD
• Experience with CNC equipment (desirable)
• A solid understanding of health and safety in workshop and lab environments
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
