Software Engineer (Fullstack)

Job description

Portonics is a team of technology consultants specialising in application design and software and mobile application development, with engineers, analysts and solution architects running projects from business-critical applications to products serving large numbers of customers daily. Full-stack engineers champion the development of best-in-class web applications, ensuring UI consistency and quality. You will create and deploy software building blocks that support the client and internal product suite, work cross-functionally with product and leadership teams, and help standardise and improve development processes, including technology selection, deployment steps and code review. Candidates need a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field with 3+ years of industry experience, strong PHP, JavaScript and Node.js skills, and the ability to write production code both manually and with AI coding agents while reviewing the output critically. The role is full-time, based in Dhaka, and applications are made through the Portonics SmartRecruiters page.

Responsibilities

• Create system functionality and amend existing features
• Create and deploy software building blocks that support client and internal products
• Research and develop proofs of concept
• Structure code according to coding standards
• Write thorough automated tests for your code
• Update and manage tasks through JIRA
• Participate in daily stand-up meetings
• Work for standardisation and improvement of development processes, including technology selection, deployment steps and code review

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field with 3+ years of industry experience
• Proficient at writing production code both manually and with AI coding agents, with judgment to review, refactor and own AI-generated output
• Excellent PHP (7+), JavaScript and Node.js development experience
• 3+ years of experience building responsive, cross-browser-compatible websites with HTML, CSS and JavaScript
• Experience with Tailwind CSS, Material Design and/or Bootstrap 5
• Knowledge of JavaScript frameworks such as React, Angular or Vue
• Experience with a PHP framework such as Symfony, Laravel or CodeIgniter
• Experience with Webpack, Grunt or Gulp
• Strong experience working with APIs, including integrating LLM APIs
• Strong experience with data modelling, relational databases, SQL and complex queries
• Experience with NoSQL databases (MongoDB, DynamoDB, etc.)
• Secure coding fundamentals (OWASP Top 10, input validation, authentication/authorization, secrets management)
• Good verbal and written communication skills in English
• Good to have: Next.js, Redis/Memcached, PHPUnit/Mocha/Jest, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, JIRA, Jenkins, Elasticsearch, Grafana, Kibana
