Senior Commissioning Engineer

Job description

Wood is hiring an experienced PMC Senior Commissioning Engineer having a proven track record in planning, coordinating, and executing commissioning and start-up activities to ensure that plant systems, equipment, and facilities are safely tested, commissioned, and handed over to operations in accordance with project specifications, quality standards, and operational requirements for a high-profile client.

Wood's Oil, Gas & New Energies business delivers large and complex projects for national and international energy companies. This opening is based in Abu Dhabi and supports a high-profile client.

Responsibilities

• Proven experience in managing pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up, performance testing, and system handover activities.
• Experience with commissioning management systems and completions databases.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams including engineering, construction, operations, vendors, and contractors.
• Strong troubleshooting, technical analysis, and problem-solving skills during commissioning and start-up phases.
• Experience in performance testing, reliability runs, and acceptance testing activities.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience working on EPC, EPCM, PMC, offshore, onshore, brownfield, or greenfield projects is preferred.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
• Lead and coordinate pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up, and performance testing activities for assigned systems and facilities.
• Verify mechanical completion and system readiness before commencement of commissioning activities.
• Organize and lead system walkdowns, punch listing, punch clearance, and system handover activities.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues encountered during testing, commissioning, and start-up phases.
• Review and approve commissioning dossiers, test reports, and handover documentation.
• Conduct commissioning readiness reviews and verify operational readiness of systems.
• Lead functional testing, integrated system testing, performance testing, and reliability run activities.
• Interface closely with project management, construction, engineering, and operations teams to ensure effective communication and issue resolution.
• Support plant start-up, stabilization, and achievement of performance guarantees.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior commissioning engineers and commissioning staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Chemical, Process Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• Typically 15+ years of experience in commissioning, start-up, operations, or project execution within oil & gas, LNG, petrochemical, refinery, power, energy, or industrial projects.
