Job description
We’re looking for an Accounts Receivable Collections Analyst who wants to use AI and agents to help customers pay on time. You’ll manage a portfolio of customer accounts, using AI to prioritize outreach, investigate overdue balances, and move payment issues toward resolution. You’ll combine these tools with clear communication and strong relationships with customers’ Accounts Payable teams.
This role is open to people starting their careers or moving into finance. Curiosity, persistence, and good judgment matter more than a traditional collections background. You’ll help shape how our team works with AI, learning our accounts receivable processes as you go. The role reports to the Head of North American Collections.
Responsibilities
- Use AI tools and agents to prioritize assigned accounts, draft personalized email follow-ups, and track payment commitments. Pair these workflows with phone outreach and customer conversations to help meet cash collection and days sales outstanding (DSO) targets.
- Use AI to review account aging and summarize collection activity. Check the results and keep records of customer conversations, payment promises, disputes, and next steps accurate and up to date.
- Build relationships with customers’ Accounts Payable teams and act as their point of contact for collections and payment questions.
- Coordinate incoming requests and handle initial escalations. Resolve issues promptly and bring in the right team when a problem needs further review.
- Investigate account balances with support from AI tools and teammates. Check the underlying invoices and payment history, recommend next steps, and ask for help when an issue needs deeper review.
- Research invoice and payment discrepancies, reconcile account information, and work with the appropriate teams to resolve customers’ AR/AP questions.
- Work with Credit to arrange and monitor approved payment schedules for overdue accounts.
- Prepare clear account summaries with AI support and participate in biweekly reviews with business leaders on open receivables, collection risks, and next steps.
- Work with Credit, Account Management, Sales, Disputes, and Legal to resolve issues that delay payment while maintaining professional customer relationships.
- Help build, test, and improve AI agents and automated workflows with the AR manager to summarize account histories, coordinate follow-ups, and flag stalled payments. Use approved tools, verify amounts and claims, protect customer information, and bring exceptions or payment decisions to the right person.
- Support Finance and Accounting with month-end close activities, accurate account records, and other projects as needed.
Requirements
- Your assigned accounts have clear action plans, reliable records, and consistent follow-up.
- Collection performance improves against agreed targets, with overdue balances and disputes addressed promptly.
- Customers and internal partners receive clear answers and dependable service.
- You help put AI agents and workflow improvements into daily use, reducing manual work and improving follow-up speed while maintaining accuracy and financial controls.
- Curiosity, initiative, and follow-through, demonstrated through work, school, volunteering, or personal projects. No specific degree or prior collections experience is required.
- The ability to learn unfamiliar processes and systems quickly, ask thoughtful questions, and apply feedback.
- Clear written and verbal communication, attention to detail, and the judgment to handle sensitive conversations professionally.
- Persistence and initiative: you follow up, find practical ways to resolve issues, and take responsibility for results.
- The ability to work independently and with others, manage competing priorities, and stay organized as workloads change.
- An interest in using AI to solve practical problems and a willingness to experiment with tools and agents. Examples from school, personal projects, or work are welcome; professional AI experience and coding skills are not required.
- Strong problem-solving skills: you can investigate a discrepancy, identify what is missing, and follow the issue through resolution.
- Sound judgment about AI output and confidential data. You verify facts and figures, recognize when an answer is unreliable, and know when to seek human review.
