Accountant III (Partner Financial Management)

Job description

Compassion International is looking for an experienced finance professional who enjoys working closely with people. In this role you work with a wide network of partner organisations across Bangladesh, providing financial guidance, monitoring, training and support, improving financial accountability, strengthening compliance and building local capacity. This is not a desk-based accounting role: alongside a strong accounting foundation, a significant part of the work involves working directly with partners, conducting field visits, facilitating training, reviewing financial practices and helping teams find practical solutions to financial and compliance challenges. The position is based in Dhaka with regular travel across Bangladesh. Candidates submit their CVs in English through the Compassion careers site.

Responsibilities

• Review financial reports and supporting documentation submitted by partner organisations
• Analyse financial data and identify trends, risks, gaps or areas for improvement
• Review audit observations and support partners in addressing findings
• Provide practical guidance on accounting processes, internal controls and financial reporting
• Plan and facilitate training sessions for finance staff and partner organisations
• Support the development of tools, resources and learning materials
• Coach and mentor partner finance teams to strengthen financial management and accountability
• Travel to partner locations to conduct monitoring visits, spot checks and financial reviews
• Assess compliance with financial policies, procedures and reporting requirements
• Support compliance with organisational requirements and applicable regulations, and flag risks with recommended corrective actions
• Build strong working relationships with partner organisations and internal finance, training, partnership and leadership teams

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field
• At least 7 years of relevant experience in accounting, finance, audit, compliance, financial monitoring or partner finance management
• Experience working with INGOs, development organisations or donor-funded programmes
• Experience reviewing financial reports and monitoring financial performance
• Experience supporting or working directly with partner organisations
• Strong facilitation, training or capacity-building experience
• Sound knowledge of financial controls, compliance and reporting requirements
• Knowledge of Bangladesh tax and VAT regulations
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Willingness and ability to travel frequently throughout Bangladesh
• Preferred: professional accounting certification or progress toward Chartered Accountant, a Master's degree, and experience conducting partner assessments
