National WASH Consultant - Groundwater Management and Hydrogeology Expert

Through the GoB-UNICEF Climate Resilient Programme, UNICEF is working with IAT-BUET and the University of Dhaka on a pilot in Sreepur, Gazipur that demonstrates industrial water-use efficiency, reduced groundwater abstraction, better wastewater treatment, reuse and recycling and pollution control with participating textile industries. The consultant provides specialised technical support to UNICEF and government institutions on groundwater assessment, monitoring, mapping, modelling, governance and sustainable management, strengthens technical standards and data systems, and documents scalable approaches for replication across Bangladesh. This is a 12-month, office-based consultancy with travel. Applicants must submit a concise technical proposal of no more than five pages.

দায়িত্ব

• Provide technical support on groundwater assessment, monitoring, mapping, modelling, governance and sustainable management
• Support selected industrial water-management initiatives in the Sreepur, Gazipur pilot
• Strengthen technical standards and data systems for groundwater
• Facilitate institutional coordination and knowledge transfer with government, academia and partners
• Document scalable approaches for replication across Bangladesh

যোগ্যতা

• Advanced university degree (master's or equivalent) in geology, hydrogeology, water-resources engineering, environmental engineering or civil engineering with a water-resources specialisation
• At least 10 years of progressively responsible experience in hydrogeology, groundwater-resource assessment, groundwater management, water-resources planning or a closely related field
• At least five years of experience in groundwater monitoring, aquifer mapping, modelling, development, water-quality assessment or management planning in Bangladesh
• Experience preparing technical reports, management plans, project proposals and evidence-based recommendations
• Fluency in written and spoken Bangla and English
• Concise technical proposal of no more than five pages with the application
• Desirable: industrial water-use efficiency or wastewater experience; GIS and groundwater databases; work with DPHE, WARPO, government agencies, academia or UN organisations
